The most recent Academic Performance Indexed has been released for the school districts in Riverside County. For those of you that no not know this already, (almost) each school in California is given a standardized test and then ranked amongst the other schools in the state. When the tests are graded, they are converted into a one single number that ranges between 200 and 1,000, with 800 being the long term goal. The state ranking is based on a state wide evaluation of all schools, and the similar school ranking was made based off of a sample group of 100 other schools with similar characteristics, such as ethnicity, family income, parental education, etc. Let's take a look at how the Riverside Unified School District fared in the intellectual evaluation.
The elementary schools in Riverside did outstanding with almost all of the schools reaching their target of 800, and some even braking the 900 mark. Of the schools that did not make it, not one of them fell below the 750 level. In fact, out of 30 elementary schools in Riverside Ca, three of them were given a state-wide comparative rank of nine, meaning they were on the top ten percent of academic performances in all of California. Congratulations to Franklin, Kennedy, and Lake Mathews Elementary School for doing such a great job on their testing.
The middle schools in Riverside also did well on the exam, with half of them reaching the 800 goal that was set. Of the schools that did not make it to the mark, none of them fell below the 710 mark. To add to this accomplishment, 5 out of 7 of the Riverside middle schools ranked a 10 out of 10 against other similar schools, with the other two coming in with a score of eight and nine.
Unfortunately, there were fewer of the high schools in Riverside Ca that made the 800 mark. The only two that were able to do so were Martin Luther King High School and Riverside Virtual, a school that is so small that the results were deemed less reliable. Both of these schools came it at a nine out of ten when comparing to other schools in the state. Of the schools that did not make it up to the mark of 800, most of them were considered to be alternative school, and did not receive a local or state wide comparable ranking. The Corona-Norco, Murrieta, and Temecula Unified Schools Systems were the only areas in Riverside County to have more high schools reach the 800 mark than those in the Riverside Unified School District.
